Are Laser Printer Toners Dangerous to your Health?
Small Business Comments OffThere have been a number of reports recently suggesting that laser printer toners may be dangerous for your health. A team of scientists from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia did a study, testing over 60 different types of toners, and found that many of them leaked emissions, which were dangerous to breath.
While this sounds alarming, there’s no need to throw your printer out the window immediately. The risk is, of course, higher for people working in a printing room, whose jobs involve printing continuously all day long. For the rest of us, the risks are much lower. Many people rushed to compare to threat to that of cigarette smoking, but I’m more inclined to view it as similar to the city pollution we all encounter these days. Yes, it’s riskier than smelling the roses (unless you’re allergic to roses), but I doubt this it’s so serious that I need to cease all my printing activities immediately. Let’s just wait and see what other associations and studies have to say.
